Atlanta Hawks vs Orlando Magic Preview and Prediction

The Atlanta Hawks have been on an incredible run since the All-Star break, completely turning their season around. They’ve gone 17-3 during that stretch and have climbed up to the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference, putting themselves in a strong position to avoid the play-in altogether.

On the other side, the Orlando Magic are trending in the opposite direction. They’ve lost seven of their last nine games and have slipped to 8th in the standings with a 40-35 record.

This matchup carries a lot of weight for both teams. A win for Atlanta would give them some breathing room over the 7th-seeded Philadelphia 76ers and virtually lock in a playoff spot. For Orlando, it would help them stay in the 7th or 8th range and avoid dropping to 9th or 10th, which would make their path through the play-in much tougher.

The Hawks have dominated the matchup against the Magic all season, winning all three meetings so far. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jalen Johnson have been especially effective in this head-to-head, combining for an average of over 44 points per game.

Atlanta is also riding serious momentum, with recent wins over the top two Eastern Conference teams, the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons. Just as importantly, they’re healthy with no major absences expected. Meanwhile, Orlando does not have that same luxury, as it’ll be without three key rotation players.

Prediction: Expect the Hawks to win by 9 points.
