Atlanta Hawks vs Boston Celtics Preview and Prediction
The Atlanta Hawks have caught fire in the second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, they’ve gone 15-2, a stretch that has pushed them up to fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 41-32 record.
The Boston Celtics have also been playing well, though not quite at the same level as their upcoming opponents. They’ve posted a 13-5 record since the break, with impressive wins over powerhouses such as the LA Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and OKC Thunder.
Boston took the first matchup of the season on Jan. 17, cruising to a 132-106 win behind Jaylen Brown’s 41 points and Sam Hauser chiming in with 30.
Atlanta responded in the rematch on Jan. 28. Their starting lineup stepped up in a big way, combining for 95 points. Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the scoring with 21, while Jalen Johnson delivered a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Brown finished that game with 21 points and 7 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Celtics fell 117-106.
With both teams playing well heading into Friday’s game, this third meeting should be the most competitive yet. Still, Atlanta looks sharper right now and appears to be in better overall health, which could give them the edge.
Prediction: Expect the Hawks to win by 2 points.
