Samantha Busch’s emotional thank-you after Kyle Busch’s death: “Our hearts are absolutely shattered”

NASCAR icon Kyle Busch suddenly passed away on May 21, 2026. The Richard Childress Racing driver’s wife, Samantha Busch, didn’t speak about the death or release any statement until now. She took to Instagram on June 5, 2026, and broke the silence, thanking the fans and NASCAR community.

The Busch family released a statement on May 21, 2026, about Kyle Busch battling a severe illness and missing the Coca-Cola 600. Just hours after this statement, NASCAR, on behalf of the family, announced that the two-time Cup champion had passed away.

In a statement released a couple of days after his demise, it was revealed that Busch had bacterial pneumonia, which progressed into sepsis, leading to complications and his demise. On Sunday, Busch was racing at the All-Star race and passed away on Thursday.

Kyle Busch’s wife, Samantha Busch, was at the Coca-Cola 600 with her children Brexton & Lennix, where the NASCAR family paid tribute to the legend. NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell gave a speech at Charlotte and honored Busch. All the teams ran the No.8 decal, and all the race winners honored Busch by celebrating with his iconic bow celebration.

Since Kyle Busch’s demise, Samantha Busch hasn’t spoken publicly or posted anything on social media. However, she took to Instagram on June 5 and uploaded a family photo including her, Kyle, Brexton, and Lennix, with a caption that thanked everyone.

“As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you. The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you,” wrote Samantha Busch

“The love that has surrounded our family during this unimaginable time has brought comfort in the middle of so much pain. Knowing the impact Kyle had on others and seeing how they are honoring him through each unique act of generosity is a true testament to how special Kyle is to so many people. There are moments when the weight of this loss feels impossible to carry, yet time and time again God, through you all, has shown us we are not alone,” she added

“From family and friends to fans and complete strangers, thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for loving our family so well. Thank you for loving Kyle. Thank you for honoring him. We may never find the words to fully express what your support has meant to us, but please know that we are deeply grateful. Samantha, Brexton & Lennix.”

A ceremony took place ahead of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, where the whole garage gathered around to honor Kyle Busch. NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell addressed the crowd, reflecting on the loss and telling Samantha Busch that the community is with her and her children.

“To the Busch family, Tom, Gay, Kurt, all the folks at RCR and JGR, we are certainly thinking about you. Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you. And that you and your children are NASCAR family forever. And Brexton and Lennix, your dad loved you with all his heart. Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everybody watching on TV, and all those people up in that grandstand are your family, and we’ve got you,” said O’Donnell
