Kyle Busch passed away on May 21, 2026, after battling pneumonia, which progressed into sepsis. As per the latest reports, a public memorial will take place for the NASCAR icon in Charlotte, while a private service was held on June 2, 2026. Just after his father’s private memorial service, Brexton Busch took to the track.
As per motorsport journalist Bob Pockrass, a private memorial service honouring Kyle Busch was held on June 2, 2026. His tweet also revealed the plans for a public memorial in Charlotte, with a date yet to be decided.
“There was a private memorial for Kyle Busch today. There are plans to have a public event in Charlotte to celebrate the life of Kyle Busch. Date TBD,” Bob Pockrass’ tweet READ.
Just hours after Kyle Busch’s memorial, his son Brexton Busch was seen racing in the Cook Out Summer Shootout in Charlotte. Young upcoming drivers race Legend cars in this series on their way to stock car racing. Charlotte Motor Speedway shared images from the shootout on social media, and Brexton was seen racing at the speedway.
Richard Childress Racing driver Kyle Busch demanded medical attention after the All-Star race at Dover. However, nothing serious was detected, with the driver continuing with his life. A couple of days before his demise, Busch was at the GM facility in the simulator when emergency services had to be called.
Busch was taken to a hospital, with a family statement revealing a serious illness. Just hours after the statement, NASCAR came out on behalf of the family and announced that the RCR driver had passed away. In a later statement, the family revealed that bacterial pneumonia rapidly progressed into sepsis, which led to severe complications.
Kyle Busch was honoured during the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Every NASCAR race winner since has paid tribute to Busch by doing his iconic bow celebration after the win.
The NASCAR driver was cremated in Mooresville, North Carolina, according to his death certificate. RCR suspended the No. 8 following Busch’s death, and has reserved the same for his son, Brexton, for when he makes it to NASCAR.
Kyle Larson Honours Kyle Busch After High Limit Racing Win

Kyle Larson won the High Limit Racing race at Davenport. The Hendrick Motorsport star paid tribute to Kyle Busch after his win by doing the iconic bow celebration. Speaking with Floracing after the race, Larson revealed that his race winnings will be donated to Kyle Busch and his widow Samantha’s charity, Bundle of Joy.
“This time I’m going to send this to Kyle and Samantha Busch’s foundation, the Bundle of Joy. We all know how much the Busch family means to all of us and we greatly miss Kyle,” Larson SAID.
NASCAR paid tribute to Busch at Charlotte ahead of the race start. Samantha Busch and Brexton were at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kyle Larson’s son Owen went up to Brexton and comforted the young racer.
