“Keep Taking It Personally Please”: Fans React As Denny Hamlin Resurrects Michael Jordan Viral Neck-Grab Photo With a playful Jab

Denny Hamlin took a sly dig at his 23XI Racing co-owner after Sunday’s win at Pocono Raceway. Referencing Michael Jordan’s viral meme from The Last Dance, Hamlin won over fans online.

Hamlin is on a heater with his maiden hat-trick win at the Great Getaway 400. He has won back-to-back on four occasions, but never managed three in a row. Pocono helped him clear the hurdle, as Sunday marked his eighth win at the Tricky Triangle.

The JGR driver held off his 23XI driver and season leader, Tyler Reddick, who finished over a second behind. Hamlin also had a stage win and walked away with 67 points, cutting his deficit to just 19.

In a playful gesture, Jordan grabbed Hamlin’s neck after the win. The No.11 driver responded with a morphed version of himself on Jordan’s meme, where the NBA player famously promised payback.

Here are some fan reactions to the post:

“Lol. Keep taking it personally please. Not finished” a fan wrote.
“Glad you’re starting to get the flowers you deserve while you’re still around. Folks are starting to realize,” another commented.
“I pray to the Nascar Gawds that Gibbs convinces you to come back for at least one more year,” an X user said.
“My favorite part is he for sure sent that to MJ first 😂,” someone wrote.
“I don’t think ppl understand how dominant Denny is right now, truly one of the 🐐 of nascar,” a fan penned.
With four trophies, Denny Hamlin is only one win away from equalling Tyler Reddick’s tally. The result also marks his 64th career Cup win, placing him ninth in the all-time wins list after surpassing Kyle Busch.

“The best we’ve been”: Denny Hamlin elated for Pocono win

Denny Hamlin is showing no signs of slowing down in his 21st full-time season in the Cup Series. The 45-year-old was the winningest driver last season, and he could very well repeat the feat this year.
Hamlin echoed the sentiment in his post-race interview, saying,

“Just so special here. Just so happy for this whole Joe Gibbs Racing team. This is a team effort. They’ve given me fast cars. The pit crew is flawless right now. We’ve just got it all going.

“I’d say it’s certainly the best we’ve been. We come to the race track every week knowing that we’ve got a great shot to win. The team is doing an amazing job knowing exactly what I need in the car every week, and that’s why we’re winning,” he added.

Denny Hamlin has ten races left to secure the regular season title. However, the next two races are on road courses. Hamlin usually struggles at such tracks, while Tyler Reddick excels.
The No.45 driver even won against road course ringer Shane van Gisbergen earlier in the year at COTA.
