Carson Hocevar and Corey Heim had a lighthearted back-and-forth amidst their San Diego fallout. The two drivers joked about their respective service providers preventing their peace talks.
Denny Hamlin recently revealed that Hocevar had asked for Heim’s number after Sunday’s race at Coronado Naval Base. Heim had spun out Hocevar en route to his race win, and the latter wanted to go over it on a call.
On the latest episode of Dale Jr. Download, Hocevar took over as host and shared that he was unable to reach Heim. NASCAR reporter Matt Weaver shared the exchange that followed.
Carson Hocevar’s comment read:
“If only they had cell service out west.”
Corey Heim shot back and wrote,
“Sorry dude my Spectrum went out again.. time to switch I guess”
“If you need help paying your spectrum bill so it works next time, i can buy a win shirt,” hocevar retorted.
“Please do, I’ll use the extra cash to upgrade to @Xfinity,” Heim replied.
Hocevar ultimately finished 19th after qualifying second. Heim, meanwhile, won his maiden Cup race with a three-lap lead. He achieved the feat in only 13 starts, further debunking the notion that drivers need 100 races to earn their breakthrough victory.
Denny Hamlin echoed the sentiment in the latest episode of Actions Detrimental. He believes the idea is largely backed by drivers who failed to win early.
Carson Hocevar heaps praise on Corey Heim

Carson Hocevar was all praise for Corey Heim on the latest episode of Dale Jr. Download. He commended Heim for his San Diego win and said he hopes to race him for 20 more years.
“I do enjoy racing him like on the truck side, like I remember Texas. I like looked down pit road to look at the Triton trucks and I wanted to see who was in the one this week and I was like, ‘Ah, that’s not Heim, I was like. Okay, we’ll win.’ I think the Triton trucks are probably the best trucks, but he’s definitely by far the best step like taking advantage of them,” He said.
Shane van Gisbergen was the last driver to grab a Cup win in their first 20 starts. Notably, his maiden win came in his first-ever NASCAR start at the 2023 Chicago Street Race.
To date, only 18 drivers have achieved the feat, and Corey Heim is one of them. In contrast, it took Carson Hocevar three seasons to claim his maiden.
The Spire driver recently won at Talladega and broke his winless streak. The 23-year-old won the Truck race the following weekend in Texas. Hocevar currently ranks ninth in the standings, one spot below his teammate, Daniel Suarez.
Spire’s Michael McDowell stands further back in 21st.
