Carson Hocevar recalled a flirtatious exchange with sports broadcaster Kay Adams in San Diego. The Spire driver shared the moment while hosting the latest episode of Dale Jr. Download.
Hocevar had an eventful day at Naval Base Coronado. The Michigan native qualified on the front row but was taken out by race winner Corey Heim in the final laps.
Hocevar dropped off the front and recovered to finish 19th. As it turns out, the 23-year-old had an interesting lead-up to the race as well.
“So I introduced myself and everything in the drivers meeting. and she was laughing and she’s like, man, you’re like by far the most confident guy here. She’s like, I was told you’re the bad boy of NASCAR. I was like, who said that? She’s like, ‘I don’t know. I was just told that’s Carson, and he’s the bad boy of NASCAR and you got to talk to him’. I was like, here I am, and so we started talking,” Hocevar said.
“Hey, I heard you’re in the pace car,” he added, “I actually qualified up front, so I’ll see you up there,’ and so then I rolled up next to her, she started waving, she had her phone out, she started blowing me kisses. I was like, ‘Yes, yes, dude, yes’.”
Carson Hocevar later revealed that he had a unique celebration planned for a San Diego win. He apparently wanted to get off the track, jump in the water, and have a Navy sailor rescue him.
Staying true to his persona, Hocevar maintained that the industry was robbed of his win celebration. Notably, the young driver has earned a reputation for pulling daring stunts after race wins.
He recently sat on his windowsill and rode around the track after winning Talladega. Hocevar also performed a burnout in the same position. The moment quickly gained virality and made the rounds in mainstream media.
Carson Hocevar remains upbeat despite Corey Heim incident

Corey Heim entered the history books on the Anduril 250 at San Diego. He’s now one of 17 drivers to win their maiden Cup race in 20 starts or less.
Heim won it in only his 13th Cup Series start. However, the triumph didn’t come without controversy. His on-track incident with Carson Hocevar drew flak from fans.
In a post-race interview with NASCAR reporter Jeff Gluck, Hocevar claimed he had a shot at winning the race but was satisfied with the outcome nonetheless.
“We got a lot of stage points and exceeded my own expectations. Who would’ve guessed I of all people have a shot to win a road course race,” he said.
