Mike Norvell Says Jordan Travis Has a Coaching Future at Florida State If He Wants It

While recently speaking with the media, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell spoke about the prospect of Travis joining his coaching staff.

“If that’s a path that he wants to go, I’m going to work really hard to make sure that becomes our reality.”

If Travis were to become a part of the coaching staff, at just 25 years of age, he would likely start out as an offensive assistant.

Then, there could be a potential for him to move up to a position coaching role, such as quarterback coach. Time can only tell whether or not Norvell and Travis could make it work.

Jordan Travis Was a Superstar at Florida State

After transferring to Florida State from Louisville in 2019, Travis made his name known far and wide. A two-time All-ACC performer, he led the Seminoles to multiple 10-win seasons as their starter.

In his Florida State career that spanned five seasons, he recorded 96 total touchdowns and just 19 interceptions. His 2023 season was special as he was named the ACC Player of the Year after tossing 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

He also set a career-high in completion percentage (64.1%) and rushed for seven touchdowns. The West Palm Beach native proved that he could do it all during his career at Florida State.

That is why he could be an excellent addition to the coaching staff after spending his one NFL season with the New York Jets. His aforementioned 25 years of age could be valuable as he could present a bridge to the players who are still in school and looking to grow.
