After crashing out of the first round of the 2026 March Madness earlier this year, Wisconsin Badgers’ head coach Greg Gard has been actively recruiting prospects as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026 CBB season.
However, it looks like the Wisconsin-based program isn’t stopping just yet with the commitment of hometown hero Jalen Brown.
A class of 2027 prospect, the four-star guard will now play for his in-state program despite receiving offers from a plethora of programs like Indiana, California, and Nebraska, among others.
What makes this recruiting win even more special for Greg Gard and his side is the fact that Brown is the program’s highest-ranked recruit since forward Sam Dekker, who went on to become one of the Badgers’ most iconic players up until 2015 before getting drafted by the Houston Rockets.
Meanwhile, Jalen Brown currently occupies the 97th spot on ESPN SC Next’s top 300 prospects list for the class of 2027 with an overall scout grade of 81.
Jalen Brown Opens Up On Wisconsin Future Following Recent Commitment
After officially committing to the Wisconsin Badgers, Jalen Brown has already set his sights on achieving great heights for his new program. Despite the expectations that come with being a highly touted in-state recruit, Brown appears more than ready to embrace the challenge, determined to leave a lasting impact in Madison.
In a conversation with On3 Sports’ Evan Flood, Brown revealed that he plans on making his home state proud.
“I’m ready for all the pressure or anything that comes with that. I want to make my home state proud and bring championships,” Brown stated.
While this enthusiasm is exactly what the Badgers need heading into the new season, it’s worth noting that Wisconsin has only won the national championship once in their CBB history under the stewardship of head coach Bud Foster back in 1941.
While it remains to be seen if Brown’s on-court contribution helps Wisconsin win their elusive national championship title, this commitment could very well change the course of the program, considering how the four-star guard is the team’s first class of 2027 recruit.
