The NC State Wolfpack is hiring Justin Gainey as its new head coach of the men’s basketball program. NC State is Gainey’s alma mater as he played here from 1996 to 2000 and even contributed to the administration department from 2006 to 2008.
In the midst of coaching change, fans want to know more about Gainey and his personal life, including his wife, Courtney.
Who Is Justin Gainey’s Wife Courtney?
Justin Gainey and Courtney have been reportedly married for over 20 years. They likely met in the late 1990s or early 2000s during or shortly after Justin’s playing career. The couple shares three sons: Jordan, Jayson, and Jaxson.
Most recently, on August 14, the couple celebrated their 20th anniversary. Justin Gainey described their relationship through a well-written Instagram caption:
“Happy 20th Anniversary! Two decades of love, laughter, growth, and walking through life side-by-side. We’ve celebrated wins, pushed through challenges, and built a life and family that I’m proud of every single day. Through every season, you’ve been my partner, my best friend, and my greatest blessing. I’m grateful for the journey we’ve shared, and even more excited for the chapters still to come. Here’s to us, to love that lasts, and to the next 20 years. ❤️”
The Instagram post also had photos from their wedding day where the two can be seen holding each other’s hands at a church.
According to Courtney’s Instagram bio, she is a “believer” and “Clean Beauty Advocate.” Courtney and Justin Gainey’s oldest son, Jordan, is a college basketball player.
He played under his father at Tennessee. According to the new head coach of NC State, Courtney always wanted her son to go to Tennessee.
“I tried to be neutral, but she was one-way the whole time. It was all Tennessee,” Justin said.
Justin’s career required frequent relocations, including Elon, Appalachian State, Marquette, Arizona, Tennessee and NC State. This had real effects on their family as their son Jordan changed multiple high schools due to moves.
