    Who Are Braden Smith’s Parents?

The Boilermakers star is the son of Dustin and Ginny Smith. Braden Smith’s father played college basketball at Arkansas Tech University. Dustin is into coaching and is involved with the Grand Park Premier AAU basketball program, where he develops youth players. Dustin introduced Braden Smith to the sport and played a major role in his development in early years.

Meanwhile, Smith’s mother was also a college basketball player at Arkansas Tech University. She won Arkansas Miss Basketball in 1997 and later became a high school girls’ coach at Westfield High School for several years and even held an administrative position there.

Both Ginny and Dustin met as college basketball players since they were part of the same program. Growing up, Smith would attend her mother’s games and tag along to his father’s leagues. The family eventually relocated to Westfield, Indiana, where Braden grew up and became a standout high school player.

After winning Indiana’s Mr. Basketball award in 2022, Braden Smith credited his parents’ influence on his success.

“Anything that happened good to me, they’ve taught me it,” Smith said. “They helped me along the way, they’ve been a part of basketball, they’ve been around basketball forever and they wanted me to be just as successful as they were.”

Braden Smith has a younger brother named Maddox, who is roughly eight years younger and in middle school (seventh grade). Like Braden, even Maddox holds a high IQ when it comes to basketball.

The Boilermaker senior is playing his fourth season with Purdue. He won Big Ten Player of the Year last season and was also a consensus first-team All-American. It remains to be seen how big an impact he can make in his senior season.
