    Who is Jordan Derkack’s Father?

Gene Derkack established an impressive basketball legacy long before his son Jordan stepped onto the college court. As a standout at Florida International University, Gene scored 1,146 points across 110 games, ranking fifth in FIU’s all-time scoring records. His well-rounded game also placed him eighth in career rebounds (479) and eighth in steals (140).

Before his collegiate career, Gene starred at Colonia High School from 1991 to 1995, surpassing the 1,000-point scoring mark and later earning induction into the Colonia Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018. His athletic pursuits extended beyond basketball, including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro and completing multiple Ironman triathlons and marathons.

Today, Gene channels his passion for sports into his professional life as the Vice President of Major Giving for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee. In this leadership position, he directs and oversees the major giving program throughout the United States, continuing to make an impact in the world of athletics.

Gene’s college experience also forged a friendship with NBA veteran Raja Bell, who became Jordan’s godfather. This connection created a valuable mentorship opportunity with Bell, who considered Jordan “like a son” and guided his basketball journey.

    Who is Jordan Derkack’s Mother?

Jenny Derkack completes the exceptional parental athletic duo, having excelled as a rare two-sport Division I athlete at Florida International University. While Gene dominated on the basketball court, she showcased her versatility by competing in both soccer and basketball at the collegiate level.

Her athletic achievements created a shared experience with Gene, and they both understood the dedication required for high-level sports competition. This mutual background established a home environment where athletic excellence was understood and nurtured, providing their children with unique insight and support.

Jenny remains actively involved in her children’s athletic careers, from accompanying Jordan on college recruitment visits to supporting their tournaments and competitions. The family maintains their residence in Colonia, creating stability amid the demanding world of competitive sports.
