Where Is Tyran Stokes Going to College? Top 3 Landing Spots for Elite Prospect

After making a name for himself in California, playing for Prolific Prep and then Notre Dame High School, Tyran Stokes went back home to Louisville, Kentucky, for his senior year. He is still considered the No. 1-ranked player from the Class of 2026. Stokes is also the No. 1 small forward and the No. 1 player in the state he is playing in even though he is now playing in a state that many consider to have far less competition than back in Southern California.

Nonetheless, college teams are still lining up to recruit him, as he is seen to be another much-hyped player who could become the next big thing. There are three top contenders fighting for him right now, but only one can get his commitment.

Top 3 Schools Fighting For 2026’s No. 1 High School Senior Tyran Stokes

    Kansas Jayhawks

The Jayhawks are seen as the favorites to land Tyran Stokes’ commitment right now, and that is mainly because Stokes has visited Kansas twice, as opposed to the other schools he has visited. Often, this is seen as a sign that a player is more interested in this school, but sometimes, this is not a guarantee.

He had one unofficial visit back in January 2026 and another, this time an official one, in April of last year. This means that he actually returned to Kansas after his official visit, making many wonder if this is the school he might be choosing.

    Kentucky Wildcats

While he may have only visited Lexington once, the second favorite is actually Kentucky, as Tyran Stokes has openly expressed his admiration for the program. As a Kentucky native, he is one of Mark Pope’s biggest in-state targets and many believe that Stokes could revive the lagging blue blood program should he choose the Wildcats.

    Louisville Cardinals

Louisville is his hometown, and this was initially the school many believed Tyran Stokes might choose until he visited Kansas again. Despite this, there is a massive chance that he could stay home in Louisville, as this is where he grew up and where his family is. After all, he chose to go back and play for Rainer Beach in Louisville after two seasons playing in elite prep schools in Southern California, as locals are hoping he would stay home.
