Tom Izzo Makes His Feelings Clear on Mick Cronin’s Bizarre Approach for UCLA Players

Tom Izzo’s Michigan State and Mick Cronin’s UCLA recently played their 9th game between them since 2003. UCLA has had a lead of 5-4 in the head-to-head. However, this time around, Michigan State got the better of UCLA. Tom Izzo’s MSU had a dominant display and completely trashed Mick Cronin’s side as they won by a huge 23-point margin, 82-59.

Four out of the starting five for Michigan State ended the game with double digits in points. Jordan Scott had 11 points. Coen Carr got 16 points. Carson Cooper ended up with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even Jaxon Kohler who didn’t have double digits in points almost ended up with a double-double with 10 rebounds and 9 points. However, Jeremy Fears Jr. was easily the best player on court for Michigan State. He got a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists.

It was a rather disappointing outing for the whole UCLA team. Only bright spot in an otherwise bland performance was Tyler Bilodeau’s 22 points. Skyy Clark got 12 points from the bench, but that was clearly not enough to shake a commanding lead taken by Michigan State which they maintained all game. Mick Cronin was furious during the game when he saw a technical foul by Steven Jamerson II against a MSU player. He took a strange action and ejected his own player. Tom Izzo commented on the incident after the game.

“It felt that Mick’s team is lot better than that I guess he upgraded that flagrant to a flagrant 2. That’s the first time I’ve seen a coach do it, but that sounds like Mick,” Tom Izzo said with a smirk.

Fans React To Tom Izzo’s Take On Mick Cronin Ejecting His Own Player

Fans raised questions on the legitimacy of the foul called on Steven Jamerson II.

“Played the ball, shouldn’t have been anything but a foul. The game has gone soft. I teach my kids NO EASY BUCKETS,” one fan said.

“Even Izzo knows it was stupid,” another fan claimed.

“Izzo didn’t even want the play reviewed because it was a common foul!” one fan stated.

“It was not a “flagrant” foul,” another commented.

“Why would anyone want to play for him. Hes getting canned,” one fan raised fingers on Mick Cronin.

“Izzo knows how foolish that was of Cronin!” another fan said.
