Fans online are wondering why coach Adrian Autry and freshman Kiyan Anthony‘s Syracuse Orange is not included in the most recent AP poll’s Top 25 teams. On Monday, Feb. 9, On3 uploaded a report to their X/Twitter, detailing the most recent AP poll for the 2025-26 college basketball season. It comes in Week 14 of the campaign, with conference play nearing its latter stages.
However, to the surprise of many fans, the Orange men were left out of the Top 25. There may be different factors that can be attributed to this snub. Nevertheless, the squad has surely earned the right to at least be mentioned in discussions about the rankings, and it may still make it if it is able to garner more success.
College basketball fans were left wondering where Anthony and the rest of his Syracuse-based program are in the latest AP poll.
“Where the f*ck is Syracuse? Keep disrespecting us. I can’t stand it,” one fan said.
“Can we just get rid of the AP Poll all together? This week makes zero sense at all. Let’s just use KenPom honestly,” another fan captioned.
“I don’t understand their voting criteria,” a user shared.
“It’s so funny seeing the conferences in each sport that used to illegally pay players (SEC football, ACC basketball) fall to the Big Ten supremacy now that paying players is legal,” one fan pointed out.
“Hold up, so Illinois loses on the road by three in OT and drops four spots and behind Nebraska who they just beat? And Duke lose by three on the road and stays in the same spot. Got it,” another fan questioned.
“Why is Kentucky over Alabama? They literally played and Alabama has the better resume and better metrics,” another user wrote.
“UNC only moves up three spots for beating a top-five-ranked team, who didn’t fall any spots? How?” a fan posted.
As it stands, the Syracuse-based program is on the heels of a two-game losing streak, losing to the North Carolina Tar Heels, 87-77, and then being beaten by the Virginia Cavaliers, 72-59. Coach Autry’s team will now look to regain momentum when they face the California Golden Bears on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Kiyan Anthony Was Recently Benched For An Entire Regular-Season Game
Perhaps the other headline that has been surrounding the Syracuse Orange is that they recently benched their rookie standout, Kiyan Anthony.
The benching occurred in the game against the Virginia Cavaliers, and coach Adrian Autry took accountability. So far in the 2025-26 campaign, Syracuse has tallied an overall record of 13-11 (4-7 ACC).
