San Francisco has been average in terms of covering this season, with a 14-13-1 record ATS. Likewise, in conference, they’re 8-8 ATS. However, the Dons have covered five of their last six outings.
The Beavers have a terrific record of 18-10 ATS this season. Head coach Wayne Tinkle’s squad has done a magnificent job of defending their home court with a 14-2 record ATS in Gill Coliseum. However, similar to the Dons, they hold an 8-8 record ATS in WCC matchups.
The Dons have tended to go under the listed point total this season, with 16 of their 29 games going under. In their past six games, only once has the over been the successful bet.
Oregon State has been consistent in going over, with 19 of their 28 games reaching that mark. In conference, a staggering 14 of 16 games have also gone over, a tell-tale sign regarding this game.
San Francisco vs. Oregon State CSN Power Rankings Line
Our power rankings are much higher than consensus on the Beavers, as we have them ranked at No. 29. Meanwhile, San Francisco is much lower, suggesting the line of Oregon State -2.5 is a little low despite where these two teams stand in the conference standings.
Preview for San Francisco vs. Oregon State
The Beavers enter with a 20-9 overall record, notching only their second 20-win season since 2011-12. They’re fifth in the WCC with a record of 10-6 and have done most of their damage this season on their home floor, where they hold a 15-2 record.
San Francisco is 22-7 on the season and 12-4 in conference, putting them in a tie with the Gonzaga Bulldogs for second place.
The Dons have put together a respectable season — but in order to be considered for the NCAA Tournament, they’ll likely need to win their final two games and make a deep run through the WCC Tournament.
Behind their talented duo in the backcourt, they certainly have a chance to do so. Senior guard Malik Thomas is a dynamic scorer, pouring in 19.5 ppg. In his last three outings, he’s nailed nine three-pointers.
Beside him is senior guard Marcus Williams, who scores 14.5 ppg, grabs 3.8 rpg, and produces a team-leading 4.2 apg. The 6’2″ Williams is also a major threat from beyond the arc, tallying at least one three-pointer or more in every game but one this season.
6’6″ freshman forward Tyrone Riley IV leads the team with 5.7 rpg while also adding 9.5 ppg.
Forward Michael Rataj of the Beavers has presented a tough matchup for every opponent this season. His versatility at 6’9″, 220 pounds has been a huge advantage for Oregon State, as he averages team-highs in points (17.8 ppg), rebounds (7.6 rpg), steals (1.7 spg) and blocks (0.7 bpg).
Fellow 6’9″ forward Parsa Fallah has had a hot stretch recently, averaging 15.8 ppg over his last four outings. Senior Damarco Minor and junior Nate Kingz make for a solid duo in the backcourt.
The Dons took the first meeting on Jan. 18 on their home court. But this time, the game will take place in Gill Coliseum, where the Beavers have been dominant this season.
Best Bets and Final Score Prediction
Both these teams possess talented top players, with Rataj and Thomas each having the ability to turn a game with their play.
Rataj and Co. have been so incredibly good at home this season that it’s hard to stray from betting against those numbers, despite analyzing San Francisco’s betting trends.
In terms of the over/under, 14 of 16 Beaver home games have reached the over, as they don’t have a spectacular defense while scoring significantly better on their home court. The total is set at 143.5 points — no doubt a gettable number.
Head coach Wayne Tinkle’s squad is also 14-2 ATS at home — for that reasoning, we’ll also take that. They are favored, which may give pause to some. They did just lose by 11 points a little over a month ago to these very Dons.
But at home, the Beavers are a completely different animal than on the road.

Picks: Over 143.5 Points, Oregon State -2.5
