Nick Pringle Injury Update: Is Arkansas Forward Playing Tonight vs. Arizona?

As they gear up for their Sweet 16 showdown against the No. 1 Arizona Wildcats, the No. 4 Arkansas Razorbacks received some welcome news regarding Nick Pringle. The forward got injured ahead of March Madness and the team has provided a new update on his game status ahead of the contest.

Pringle, who was injured on March 16, is reported to be returning to action against Arizona. He is expected to suit up after dealing with a hamstring injury, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

While he only averages 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, he is considered to be a locker room leader and provides the team with energy. Also, having another forward back is more than welcome, given that the Hogs are a bit undersized against the bigger Arizona Wildcats, which has one of the scariest frontlines in college basketball, led by freshman star Koa Peat.

Pringle is also a starter, so he is expected to return to that position, However, his backup, Malique Ewin, has had monster games in his absence, with two double-doubles, so it would also be possible that head coach John Calipari makes him come off the bench instead.

While Nick Pringle is not considered an offensive presence, he is a defensive specialist, as was seen during the SEC Tournament finals, where he had six rebounds and two blocks before going down with the ankle injury.

Nick Pringle May Be Better Suited vs. Arizona Than Malique Ewin

The biggest storyline coming into the game has been will Arkansas be able to overcome Arizona’s size? The team has a lot of talented big men, and many have been asking that with Nick Pringle injured, the Hogs may have no chance at all, Now that he is back, however, things are looking different.

Nick Pringle is a defensive presence and he may be a lot better suited to contain Koa Peat than Malique Ewin, who is more of an offensive player. While he may battle it out in the paint to secure rebounds, Ewin might not be able to keep up with the Arizona bigs. Instead. a healthy Pringle could make things a lot more difficult for them.
