Kingston Flemings joined the Houston Cougars in 2025, and he hit the ground running. A consensus four-star recruit, Flemings had offers from Alabama, Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.
In his freshman season, Flemings has helped the Cougars reach the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament. He is averaging 16.2 points, 4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting over 47% from the field and 38% from the three-point line.
The Houston Cougars are set to face the Illinois Fighting Illini in the round of 16 today at Toyota Center in Houston. Flemings isn’t the only basketball star in the family, as his sister is making her mark too.
Shayla and Demetric “Dee” Flemings played a huge role in Flemings’ early development as a player. The support from his family allowed him to focus on getting better at his game, and it has brought him to an All-American level so far.
He has four siblings: a brother named Shaydon and three sisters, Bella, Royal, and Kadence. Bella is a highly touted basketball player and is the Texas Player of the Year winner. As per Kingston’s coach, Kelvin Sampson, he was destined to be a star due to his upbringing.
“What a great family unit they have, and how they all respect their mother and father, very mature. You can tell that they’re all ambitious, they’re all achievers, that they’re gonna do good in life,” Sampson said.
Sampson praised the commitment that the family has shown toward helping their kids realize their full potential. He said that the early foundation of their greatness was established by the mother and father of Kingston.
Coach Sampson believes that the Fleming siblings are going to scale greater heights in their respective basketball careers.
Kingston Flemings’ Parents are ‘Parents of the Year’
Kingston’s parents recently appeared on News 4 (WOAI) in San Antonio, where they were introduced as “Parents of the Year.” The host of the show listed out some of the accomplishments of the siblings for the proud parents.
When asked how they feel about their kids’ success, Kingston’s mother said that the happiness comes from seeing their kids realize their dreams. She said that it’s a result of their years of hard work and dedication.
“Kingston and Bella consistently get up every morning, put up no less than 500 shots. I mean, they work hours a day,” Kingston’s father said.
The routine has been the same for the siblings. They have been working on developing their game for years, and even though they’ve accomplished a lot already, it’s just the beginning.
