The Duke Blue Devils may have been the No. 1-ranked team coming into the tournament, but they are also the second No. 1 seed to be eliminated. This is all thanks to a dagger by Braylon Mullins, who sent the UConn Huskies into the Final Four and eliminated Duke. The man who was supposed to guard him was Isaiah Evans, who is now facing the wrath of the internet thanks to what his Instagram handle is.
During that Mullins game-winner, Evans was caught just staring at Mullins as he shot the ball, not even contesting it, leading to Duke’s elimination. Fans soon found the irony of this because of his Instagram handle, which is @Getuhhandup. This means that his handle reminded people to get their hands up, while he did not do so to contest Braylon Mullins.
Soon enough, Isaiah Evans found himself getting clowned on by fans in the comments section.
“That’s what being cocky does for you. Dude thought he couldn’t make that shot so why get a hand up? Guess they FAFO😂” said one fan.
“Probably had a flashback to Dixon blowing by everyone to the bucket to pass out to Trimble for a three. Probably also not to good at math to think he should defend defend against the drive with 2 seconds left and the guy clearly shooting 😭,” another fan noted.
“i knew this was **cking coming fml,” said one person.
“Maybe he was going for the tackle.,” joked another.
“I had money on Duke, so an angel said, “We can’t let this mofo win,” and Isaiah was just watching it flip him the bird,” commented one Duke bettor.
“Couldn’t even take his own advice 🤣💀,” another commenter pointed out.
Isaiah Evans Might Not Be Staying at Duke After Loss vs. UConn
During the NCAA Tournament, Isaiah Evans has been raising his stock. The sophomore has scored 16.3 points on 49% shooting from the field and 9-of-28 (32.1%) shooting from three-point range this year, and has many people believing he might enter the NBA draft.
Should he join the draft now, he is projected to be the No. 27 overall pick. He has not yet decided on this, as his future appears to be murky, as there is still the possibility that he might stay at Durham for at least one more season.
