The Louisville Cardinals are ramping up the wins off the court, long before the new college basketball season can even begin. Pat Kelsey has been giving the Louisville fans much to cheer about, and another reason has just arrived.
The ever reliable Joe Tipton reported that the Cardinals had secured the commitment of Obinna Ekezie Jr. who reclassified to 2026 and will play for the team this season.
Ekezie Jr. is a five star recruit who was wanted by most of the top teams, so this will feel like a major win for Pat Kelsey, even if there continues to be a section of the fans who think he still might not be ready to coach the Cardinals.
Pressure on Kelsey Now to Get the Job Done
When you pay more money, you get the best stars in the NIL era, but it comes with its own pressures. Pat Kelsey will now need to repay the faith shown in him by management by delivering on the court this season as questions continue to be asked about whether he is the right man for the job.
