The No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class Dylan Mingo narrowed down his top four choices to play collegiate basketball. The 6-foot-5 five-star point guard from Long Island Lutheran will announce his decision Tuesda on ESPN’s First Take at 11:40 a.m. ET. Here is a breakdown of the top four schools that have made the cut in Mingo’s final list
Top Four Teams Chosen by Dylan Mingo
Baylor Bears
Mingo seems highly impressed by Baylor’s ability to develop elite NBA talent. He specifically noted the team’s track record with guards, citing players like Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, and Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe.
But beyond the court, he also finds the program’s culture to be resonating with his personal values. Speaking to Rivals, he said:
“They’re strong believers in Christ, which I am as well. And they’re just always so positive and just great people to other people.”
North Carolina Tar Heels
The Tar Heels’ storied history is what resonates the best with Mingo. He views the school as one of the most prestigious programs were most hoopers dream of playing for. He looks up to the legacy left behind by icons like Michael Jordan and Joel Berry, both being Tar Heel alumni, as a blueprint for his own career.
Speaking on this school, he said:
“And if I do commit there, I would love to see me go on that same path one day.”
Penn State Nittany Lions
Mingo’s affinity for Penn State might be deeply personal, especially since it gives him a chance to reunite with his brother Kayden. He was inspired by how his brother led the Nittany Lions last year and sees the opportunity to build a unique legacy by elevating this school’s program, which is traditionally not known for basketball.
“So if I did happen to commit there and did change the basketball side of things, I’d be a Penn State legend,” he said in an interview with Rivals.
Washington Huskies
Some recruits may be deterred by the Pacific Northwest weather but that does not stop Mingo from considering the Washington Huskies. The five-star recruit said he “fell in love with Seattle” and believes in the vision of Coach Sprinkle.
He feels the Huskies are building something that could be really good in the future. Speaking about this team, he said, “A lot of people say the weather is nasty, but I’m more of like an inside person. Just being inside all the time. I love that, I don’t have a problem with it.”
