Dan Hurley’s UConn has presented an offer to four-star recruit Malachi Jordan, a small forward from Glendale, Arizona. Jordan is considered the 20th best overall player in the class of 2027, the sixth best small forward, and the fourth overall player out of Arizona.
Alabama, BYU, Kansas, Missouri, Miami, Tennessee, USC, and Washington are also after Malachi Jordan, according to 247Sports. He stands at six feet seven inches and weighs in at 225 pounds.
Originally a native of Nashville, Tennessee, he plays high school basketball at Dream City Christian in Glendale. While he’s a four-star recruit for 247Sports, other raters have him as a bonafied five-star recruit, including the 247Sports Composite ranking. According to the composite, he’s the 13th player in the nation, fourth best small forward and fourth overall recruit in the state of Arizona for the class of 2027.
Malachi Jordan spoke about his recruitment options in 2025
In the fall of last year, Malachi Jordan was already thinking about recruitment for 2027. In mid-August, he spoke with Stock Risers about three particular schools that had already approached him to join them once he finished high school.
Playing around the Nashville area, the Volunteers were the first school he discussed at the time. Here’s what he said about Tennessee:
“Of course, with it being a hometown school, they have a heavy interest in getting me down there on a visit and check in now and then.”
He also seemed to be drawing the attention of another fellow SEC program, in the form of the Mizzou Tigers:
“About the same things [as Tennessee]. Especially since they got my guy Scottie [Adkinson] committed, they’ve been pushing to get me there to see what they have.”
The last school he discussed, in less detail, was the Ohio State Buckeyes:
“About the same things again. We talk about my guy Amare Bynum being there as well.”
Interestingly, Vanderbilt, the closest school to him and a finalist for the 2026 SEC Tournament, didn’t feature in the discussion then as a top option. Neither do they seem highly interested now. The current SEC champions, the Arkansas Razorbacks, are another omission of note among the schools trying to get him.
