Caleb Wilson Drops Stinging Gibe at Arch-Rivals Duke With 2 Words As UNC Teammate Bids Farewell

On Friday, North Carolina Tar Heels forward Caleb Wilson announced that he was entering the NBA Draft. In his freshman season, Wilson averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game.

In February, Wilson suffered a fractured left hand and missed the rest of the season. Wilson’s UNC teammate Seth Trimble bid farewell to the program earlier today with a highlight reel and a heartwarming message.

Trimble joined the Tar Heels in 2022. He posted a video of his best moments with the Tar Heels on Instagram with the caption:

“My blood is blue Wouldn’t change this for nothin🤞🏽Thank you Carolina 7 Out.”

Even in the moment that would be emotional for Trimble, Wilson, and the rest of the Tar Heels squad, Wilson found a way to troll the arch rivals, the Duke Blue Devils.

Duke played the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight round today. The Blue Devils were in control of the game from the beginning, maintaining their double-digit lead. However, the UConn Huskies took over in the last few minutes and took the game away from them.

The Huskies won 73-72, and Wilson got an opportunity to troll Duke. He wrote, “go huskies,” in the comment of Trimble’s post.

Duke had a two-point lead over UConn and ball possession with 10 seconds left in the game. Then Braylon Mullins stole the ball from Cayden Boozer and passed it to Alex Karaban. The forward gave the ball back to Mullins for an open three.

Mullins delivered from 35 feet and sent his team to the Final Four. This will be the third Final Four appearance by the UConn Huskies in the last four years.

Jon Scheyer Was at a Loss for Words

The loss will haunt Boozer and Co. for a while. They were on track to register a comfortable win and advance to the Final Four. UConn’s 22-10 run in the final few minutes broke their momentum, and then Mullins came in clutch for his team.

After the loss, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said that he felt sorry for his players.

“I could not be more disappointed and feeling for our guys,” he said. “At the same time, I’m just trying to process what happened. I don’t have the words. I don’t have the words.”

Scheyer praised the Duke athletes for battling injuries, adversities, and still showing up for the team. He was impressed by their commitment and said that he hadn’t seen anything like this unit before.
