Andrew McKeever Transfer Portal: 5 Potential Landing Spots for Saint Mary’s Center

Saint Mary’s had an early exit during March Madness after they were upset by Texas A&M. Now, they are getting even more bad news as their seven-foot center, Andrew McKeever, has announced that he plans to enter the transfer portal.

The portal itself has not opened yet, with that happening on April 7, after the NCAA National Championship Game, but his loss could be a big blow to the program.

As a seven-footer, Andrew McKeever could have a lot of potential, as teams could develop him to be a dominant force in the paint or even a surprising outside threat. This begs the question of where the big man should go after entering the transfer portal.

5 Teams That Could Be Good Landing Sports for Andrew McKeever

    Purdue Boilermakers

Purdue is filled to the brim with centers right now, including a few other seven-footers. However, after how well he did this season, they could probably make room for Andrew McKeever from the transfer portal. The team is known for its development of big men, so this one is a no-brainer.

    UConn Huskies

Another team that has gained fame for its development of big men, UConn could get more size next season after some of its centers leave. Head coach Dan Hurley is also known for being one of the best coaches in college basketball right now, so it could be interesting if he adds another big man like McKeever.

    Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State has had a very difficult season, barely making it to the tournament despite its history of doing well every March. The team has been known for its dominant centers but these days, they do not field as many. McKeever could bolster them, especially with Christoph Tilly leaving after his senior year.

    High Point Panthers

The High Point Panthers stunned the world when they eliminated No. 4 Wisconsin in the first round, and they did it without a true center. Having a seven-footer could help bolster their chances and take on bigger teams.

    Miami (Ohio) RedHawks

The RedHawks were supposed to be the Cinderella team this year, but ran into Tennessee. This exposed the team’s weakness, and that is size. A seven-footer might help.
