LaNorris Sellers’ SEC Dreams Face Major Roadblock As Shane Beamer Announces Updates On Four South Carolina Standouts

South Carolina is trying to win an SEC title with star quarterback LaNoriis Sellers. However, that goal has hit some major bumps in the road, as Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer has revealed that four players are now injured. They are Ryan Brubaker, Caleb Williams, Jaylen Brown and Zahbari Sandy.

“(OL) Ryan Brubaker, (DT) Caleb Williams, (EDGE) Jaylen Brown and (DB) Zahbari Sandy will not be active tomorrow. As far as their timetable to return right now — I don’t have one for you,” Shane Beamer told reporters during the Gamecocks training camp. “It’s not going to be any time in the near future, I would say.”

Three of those injured players, Brubaker, Williams and Brown, have been injured since spring, though reports indicated that Sandy’s injury may be a new one. Despite this, there is some good news, as OG Nick Sharpe and TE Michael Smith may have been taken off the injury list and are now healthy.

Shane Beamer did assure fans that those who were still injured ahead of the fall training camp will be fine and that the team is currently in a good position despite several players being injured.

“We’ll see how things evolve as we get into the season and go into the season. But those guys won’t be out there tomorrow and and won’t be — it’s not a short term thing with those guys. But they’ll be fine, and going to be great players for us here at Carolina. It just won’t be out there on the field, working at it tomorrow,” he said.

“But other than that, we’re in a really good position. It’s been a great summer and I can’t wait to get started,” he added.

LaNorris Sellers will still be the headliner for the team, with South Carolina kicking off the new season against Virginia Tech on Aug. 31.

Mock Draft Has LaNorris Sellers Being Picked No. 3 Overall

As the South Carolina Gamecocks are preparing for the new season, their star quarterback, LaNorris Sellers, is predicted to be drafted high into the 2026 NFL draft. A new mock draft by AtoZ Sports have noted that the quarterback could be taken high next year.

“LaNorris Sellers is a wildly impressive dual-threat quarterback who proved he could destroy defenses with both his arm and legs in 2024. He was a bit inconsistent in the early portion of last year’s SEC schedule, but once Sellers got comfortable he began to shred opposing defenses,” the mock draft’s analysis said.

LaNorris Sellers has been big for South Carolina, with many considering him as the best quarterback in the SEC right now. He threw for over 2,500 yards and had 18 touchdowns so far for the Gamecocks, though his rushing ability is what is impressing many NFL scouts.
