The Ole Miss Rebels dodged a defeat against the Washington State Cougars by the skin of their teeth over the weekend. The No. 4 school in the nation came in as a 33-point favorite, but only managed to win the game with a measly 24-21 score.
Fans wasted no time reacting to the pyrrhic victory, jumping on X to complain about the game by the Ole Miss Rebels.
“Lane Kiffin is very overrated man,” said one fan.
“Ole Miss is not the number 4 team in the country,” claimed someone else.
“Yall were 33 point favorites, holy sh*t 😂,” joked a neutral fan.
Maybe the problem was the bye week?
“Im sorry I love the Rebs but took WSU plus 31. We NEVER play well after a bye week,” complained an Ole Miss fan.
“Pathetic. Favored by 32. Barely won. Crap game, players and coaches, except lacy and Echols,” complained yet another fan.
Is the problem the long game?
“Somebody show Chambliss how to throw a deep ball,” said one person.
However, winning is winning, right?
“God we looked like sh*t but 6-0 is 6-0,” joked one fan.
Ole Miss’ Stats Against The Washington State Cougars
For a long time now, Ole Miss’ offense has been the team’s best tool. This game against the Cougars wasn’t any different. The Rebels outproduced Washington State 439 yards to 328. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw for 253 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His completion percentage was on the lower side, with 68.9%, but not overly worrisome.
They also had a great 186 rushing yards, mainly from Kewan Lacy, who had 142 in 24 carries. Chambliss also had 15 rushing yards, with one touchdown.
However, there are a couple of problems Lane Kiffin’s team has to deal with. One of them is penalties, which cost them 99 yards this weekend in eight fouls. The other is the defense, which allowed 328 total yards by the Cougars. Washington State had a similarly positive offensive output, 201 passing, and more worryingly, 127 rushing yards.
