Jim Mora Jr. is entering his third season as UConn’s head coach and is looking for his first winning season with the Huskies. After starting his career in Storrs strong, the 2023 season didn’t live up to its potential, and Mora will be looking to kick on in the fall.
As an established head coach, Mora has earned millions over his career, but what is his salary, contract, and net worth with UConn in 2024?
Jim Mora Jr.’s Salary and Contract in 2024
Mora signed a five-year deal in 2021 worth a total of $8.4 million that will pay him $1.7 as a base salary in 2024. There are also $200,000 in bonuses that the UConn head coach can achieve annually.
The salary started at an initial $1.5 million in the 2022 season, increasing by $100,000 annually, reports ESPN.
Mora was seen as a coup for UConn at the time of his hire. Even athletic director David Benedict said, “Jim is a proven winner, a man of integrity, and possesses the experience and the energy to lead our football program back to success. Jim is excited and undaunted by this challenge, and we both know that this program has great potential.”
“I’m certain that, under Coach Mora’s leadership, UConn football will once again realize that potential,” Benedict added.
“This program is loaded with potential,” Mora explained, “and I look forward to getting to know the student-athletes on the team and am eager to get to work!”
Mora linked up with the Huskies immediately as an assistant. However, he didn’t officially become the head coach until November 28, 2021. That allowed the new UConn leader to get a head start on recruiting.
In his first year as head coach of the Huskies, Mora went 7-6, losing the Myrtle Beach Bowl but showing progression. However, in 2023, in his second season, UConn finished with a 3-9 record.
Mora’s Net Worth
Celebrity Net Worth reports Mora’s net worth to be $8 million. However, his career earnings far exceed that figure. As a head coach in the NFL, College, and as a broadcaster, Mora’s career earnings will be considerable.
Mora’s coaching career started in 1984 when he became a graduate assistant at Washington. He then entered the NFL, becoming a defensive backs coach with the San Diego Chargers in 1989.
He then had DB coaching roles with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, where he became defensive coordinator between 1999 and 2003.

He was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons between 2004 and 2006, and he also served that role with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009.
Mora turned his attention to broadcasting after being fired. It wasn’t until 2011 that he took on another coaching opportunity, this time in the college game with UCLA.
Mora had six seasons with the Bruins, finishing with a 46-30 record and winning two bowl games. According to USAToday’s Salary Tracker, he earned $17.8 million as head coach with UCLA.
