Richard T. Lee has made massive headlines after the 2026 LIV Golf Singapore event came to an end. The Canadian golfer has received a lot of attention, and there is a lot of curiosity about him. Despite being from Canada, Lee has spent most of his career on the Asian Tour, where he has achieved multiple top results. Lee made a significant breakthrough earlier this season when he won the 2026 LIV Golf Promotions tournament.

LIV Golf Promotions was a special event for the Saudi-backed league in which the top three golfers earned Wild Cards to all of the tour’s tournaments this season. Richard T. Lee played excellently in the event, finishing with a total score of 11 under par. Prior to this breakthrough, Lee created several headlines during his teenage years when he turned professional and stunned the golf world with his brilliance.

Richard T. Lee competed in the 2007 US Open on the PGA circuit despite being only 16 years old. Later that year, he turned professional and became more focused on the Asian Tour. The golfer there has established a strong reputation for consistency and precision from the tee. Rather than power, Lee knows where to strike his ball and has a high level of precision, which has helped him build a successful golf career.

Talking about the LIV Golf Singapore, Lee concluded the tournament with a solid game, and his last round was particularly impressive. During the final round, the golfer shot six birdies and one bogey for a total score of five under par. With this round, he tied Bryson DeChambeau for first place on the leaderboard, with a total score of 14 under par.

Why did Richard T. Lee lose the playoff at the 2026 LIV Golf Singapore?

Following his remarkable performance in the competition, Richard T. Lee was unfortunately unable to control a couple of strokes, resulting in a bogey on the opening playoff hole. This was a significant disappointment for him, and he later discussed it in an interview, noting that the slopes are a little tough on the greens and that, in his adrenaline surge, he hit the shot a little harder than usual.

According to Asap Sports, Lee stated,

“There’s some slick putts out there. There’s some little lies out there. It was a short putt, and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard. I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit. Then again, I felt like I had it this week. I played really well. Hopefully, next week I can try again.”

Richard T. Lee also discussed his potential and how his life was altered a few years ago after he improved his putting technique. He later added,

“I don’t know about this week. I think the last three or four years, ever since I changed that putter to a mallet putter, my putting stats got better, and I think I built a lot more confidence out there.”

Lee’s next competition will be the LIV Golf South Africa, which will take place this week, beginning March 19.
