Vijay Singh made a surprising return to the PGA Tour at the 2026 Sony Open. At 62, he not only made the cut but finished inside the top 40, ending the week ahead of several established names.

Singh had not played a regular PGA Tour event since the 2021 Honda Classic. This time, he came in with one clear aim: make the weekend. The cut line at Waialae Country Club was one under, and Singh got through safely at two under after two rounds.

From there, he stayed steady. His four rounds read 68, 70, 68, and 69, adding up to five under for the tournament. That placed him tied for 40th.By doing that Singh finished ahead of several big names.

Here are five notable names Vijay Singh beat at the Sony Open:

5 big names Vijay Singh finished ahead of at the Sony Open

    1) Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley, who captained the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2025, failed to reach the weekend. He started with a 68 that included four birdies and two bogeys. But his second round undid that work. Bradley mixed four birdies with four bogeys and a double bogey, signing for a 72. That pushed him over par and outside the cut line.

    2) Collin Morikawa

Collin Morikawa also missed the cut in his first event of 2026.
He began with a 72 that included four birdies and six bogeys. While he bounced back with a 68 on Friday, that effort still wasn’t enough to move him into the weekend.

    3) Brian Harman

Brian Harman did make the cut, but Singh still finished ahead of him.
Harman started well with a 68 in Round 1, which included two birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle. He followed that with another 68 on Friday. However, Saturday changed everything. After a strong front nine, Harman struggled badly on the back, making seven straight bogeys. He signed for a 74. He closed with another 68 on Sunday and finished two under par, tied for 61st.

    4) Billy Horschel

Billy Horschel made the cut but struggled to find any real momentum. He opened with a 69 and followed it with an even-par 70 on Friday. Saturday was his toughest day, with six bogeys and only two birdies for a 74. He closed with a 71 on Sunday and finished the week at four over par.

    5) Aaron Rai

Aaron Rai came into the week ranked 23rd in the world and finished just behind Singh. He posted rounds of 69, 70, 69, and 68. That gave him a four-day total of 276, four under par, and a tied-50th finish. Across the week, Rai made 13 birdies and nine bogeys.
