Tommy Fleetwood is gearing up to be a part of the 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, which begins this week at Emirates Golf Club. Interestingly, before the tournament began, the World Number 3 was in a news conference when, among other things, he discussed golfers quitting LIV Golf and Brooks Koepka recently returning to the PGA Tour.

The golfer initially praised the PGA Tour, claiming that the circuit is already on a fairly large level and that the golfers are already making a lot of money. Fleetwood later stated that he is glad for the opportunity to compete on the circuit as a result of these factors. He explained,

“You know, the Tour is in a great place. We play some unbelievable events for a ridiculous amount of money on the PGA Tour, and I think it’s been in a great place, and I’m very grateful to get to play where I do.”

Then, Tommy Fleetwood went on to discuss Brooks Koepka’s return and how important it is for the PGA Tour. Koepka is without a doubt one of the top golfing talents, and his addition to the circuit will significantly increase competitiveness. Fleetwood then added,

“Yeah, it’s a great thing for the PGA Tour that Brooks has come back and he’s playing. You know, where it stands after that, I really don’t know. I honestly don’t — it sounds daft, and it sounds like I’m sitting on the fence, but I really don’t pay attention to that stuff that much.”

Aside from that, Fleetwood and Shane Lowry expressed support for Koepka’s comeback to the PGA Tour.

Tommy Fleetwood claims Brooks Koepka is doing whatever he feels

During the Hero Dubai Desert Classic practice round, Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood discussed Brooks Koepka’s return and agreed with Koepka’s decision to leave LIV Golf. First, Lowry emphasized how the former LIV Golfer’s return to the tour will be critical because he will now be able to compete in smaller tournaments. He stated:

“I think it’s good for him [Brooks Koepka] that he wanted to get off LIV, and he got back really quickly. Like, I think it’s good for the TOUR, the PGA TOUR, as in Brooks is going to play a lot of the smaller events. So that’s going to add to those.”

In a similar vein, Tommy Fleetwood later stated that he believes Brooks Koepka is playing some excellent golf and wants to make the most of it. He elaborated,

“I think Brooks — I think that’s what Brooks is doing. He wants to play where he feels like he can get the most out of himself and play his best golf, and that’s obviously where he’s made his decisions, is there and he’s ended up coming back.”

Brooks Koepka’s first tournament after coming back will be the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, which will kick off on January 29.
