During his illustrious career, Tiger Woods learned a lot from several big coaches of the game, one of whom was Hank Haney. He was Woods’ swing coach for almost six years (2004-2010), and under him, the golfer accomplished a total of 31 PGA Tour wins. Haney has always been a major presence in the golf industry, but he recently expressed his thoughts on the 2026 NFL Hall of Fame and one of its prominent inductees, Larry Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald has been generating a lot of headlines as he was chosen on the first ballot of the Hall of Fame 2026. He is a historic figure for the Arizona Cardinals, with whom he was associated during his entire career. The WR finished his career with 1,432 career catches, for 17,492 receiving yards, and 121 total touchdowns. This earned him 11 Pro Bowl choices and first-team All-Pro honors in 2008. He was chosen in the NFL team of the decade in the 2010s and the NFL 100th anniversary all-time squad.

One of the Arizona Cardinals reporters, Bo Brack, reported on the induction with a video on his X account, which Hank Haney retweeted. Tiger Woods’ former coach made a comment on Larry Fitzgerald, stating that he is not only a brilliant player but also one of the best people. The comment reads,

“Amazing player, great person, congrats @LarryFitzgerald”

Interestingly, Larry Fitzgerald has a great deal of respect for Tiger Woods and he has expressed affection for Woods on numerous occasions. The WR is also a huge golf enthusiast, and he expressed his love for the game during a post-practice interview.

At the 2018 Tour Championship, Tiger Woods was getting his form back and in the end he even managed to win that tournament with a total score of 11 under par. Interestingly, during the first round of the event, on Hole 18, Woods struck one of the most memorable eagles of his career, taking the lead in the event. During the same hole, Fitzgerald was conducting a post-practice interview, which he paused to take a look at Woods’ massive Eagle.

Fitzgerald was so happy with this Eagle that he started shouting ‘yes’ when Woods made the putt. A video of the interview shows him saying,

“Hold on. Just hold on real quick. We always pull for Tiger. We always pull for Tiger, man. He’s doing his thing. It’s great to see him back in form.”

Later, the legendary WR stated that he enjoys the game, but when Tiger Woods is taking the lead, it brings him a different kind of enjoyment. He later added:

“I love golf regardless of who’s playing. When he’s doing well, it’s exciting for everybody.”

Woods went on to shoot -2, -5, and +1 in the next three rounds to secure a two-shot victory. For this, he managed to get a total of $1,620,000 from the prize pool.
