“That’d Be Just a Dream Come True”: Michael Block Eyes Tiger Woods Dream Ahead of Turning 50
    Michael Block and Tiger Woods

Michael Block opened up about his dream to play against Tiger Woods. The American golfer made the headlines by making a hole-in-one at the PGA Championship in 2023. The club pro will turn 50 in June and is looking forward to competing on the senior tour.

Last month, Tiger Woods also turned 50 and is eligible to play on the senior tour. This week, in an exclusive interview with Bunkered.co.uk, Michael Block talked about the senior tour and also opened up about playing against Woods.

“I had never even thought about that in my life, but I literally had dreams about me coming down the stretch at a tournament against Tiger,” Block said.”It ended up being Rory [McIlroy] at the PGA Championship, but I realised he just turned 50 and he could possibly play maybe the US Senior Open.

“Just to be in the same event with him would be really cool and to have that possibility of something crazy happening down the road where I’m paired with him, because I never have been in my life. We’re only six months apart and we both grew up in Southern California, that’d be just a dream come true,” he added.

Tiger Woods has limited his outings in the last few years. Last year, he did not play in any PGA Tour events and even missed the majors.

He last played at The Open Championship in 2024 but struggled with his game and missed the cut. Fans are eagerly waiting for his return, and it would be interesting to see if he will be playing on the senior tour this year.

Michael Block opens up about playing on the PGA Tour

Michael Block is committed to playing at The American Express on the PGA Tour. He won his fifth Southern California PGA Championship last year, which helped him earn a spot in the event.

In an interview with Bunkered.co.uk, he talked about how “tough” it is for him to play in regular tour events, and looking forward to trying to qualify for the U.S. Senior Open.

“I’m really focussed in on trying to get in as many champions tour events as I possibly can,” Block said. “And the US Senior Open is right in time for my age as well, so, I’m really gonna be focussed on that big time here in another five months.

“When I’m going into these regular tour events now, it’s very tough for me to compete at my age against the kids because they’re so athletic and talented. I mean, I can’t wait to be the young buck this summer and qualifying for the US Senior Open is my number one goal,” he added.

Last season on the PGA Tour, Michael Block played at the PGA Championship and also the Charles Schwab Challenge. However, he struggled with his game in both events and missed the cut.
He is now gearing up for the upcoming event. The American Express is scheduled to take place from January 22 to 25.
