Sergio Garcia Is Trying Out Golf Ball With $2,800 Membership
    Sergio Garcia
Sergio Garcia is trying to play with a new golf ball in the new season. The Spanish golfer has started the 2026 LIV Golf season in Riyadh this week. The tournament kicked off on Thursday.
Garcia has made several changes to his equipment over the years, but the ball has caught people’s attention. He is playing with an Underground Golf ball. It’s a new brand that was founded by Mark Wahlberg, Garry Singer, and Doug Meijer.
The ball of this brand will not be available in the stores and is only for invited members. However, even for them, it costs around $2,800 (via MyGolfSpy.com).
Its founder, Singer, opened up about the brand back in December.
“My time at Clear gave me a definitive confirmation that there is a demand from golfers for ultra-premium products and they don’t mind paying a little more for them,” Singer said (via Forbes). “They also love to have something that other players don’t have and can’t get.”
The Spanish golfer will continue with the new ball this season. The season-opening LIV Golf event started on Thursday, and Garcia had a notable start. He played the opening round of 68 and then carded another round of 68. He played a round of 70 on Saturday and tied for 13th place. Notably, LIV Golf has changed its format from 54 holes to 72 holes starting this season.

Sergio Garcia shares excitement to play in LIV Golf Riyadh

Sergio Garcia shared a heartfelt post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Feb. 4, ahead of the start of the 2026 LIV Golf Riyadh event. He shared a short video on his social media handle and, in the caption, talked about the tournament.
“Feels good to be under the lights again in Riyadh,” he wrote.

In the last season, Sergio Garcia was tied for sixth place at the Riyadh event, and now he is looking forward to the new season. Last season, he won the Hong Kong event, while some of his other notable finishes were solo third in Miami, T10 in Andalucia, T17 in Chicago, and T17 in Indianapolis events.
Meanwhile, after three rounds of the 2026 LIV Golf Riyadh event, Elvis Smylie, who is playing his first season on the tour, is in contention to win the tournament. He took the lead in a two-way tie with Peter Uihlein at 16-under.
Taylor Gooch settled in solo third place ahead of the finale round, followed by Jon Rahm, who tied for fourth place with Thomas Pieters and Abraham Ancer. Byong Hun An, another new member of LIV Golf, tied for 10th place at 12-under.
