    Scottie Scheffler Officially Becomes Lifetime PGA Tour Member With the American Express Win

    Scottie Scheffler has kick-started his 2026 PGA Tour campaign with a remarkable win at The American Express. It was his 20th win on the Tour, with which he became a lifetime member of the PGA Tour.

    The world No. 1 entered the final round of The American Express, held on Sunday, Jan. 25, sitting in second place. He started the game on Sunday one stroke behind Si Woo Kim and walked off the greens after the final 18 holes with a total of 27-under. He registered an easy four-stroke win in the game. Kim carded a final-round 72 on Sunday and slipped down to a tie for sixth place.

    NUCLR Golf shared the stats about Scheffler after his win at The American Express on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday with a caption:

    “#TWENTY — Scottie Scheffler has won The AMEX Championship to secure his 20th PGA Tour victory. With the win, the World #1 officially becomes a lifetime member of the PGA Tour giving him access to non-invitational events for the rest of his playing career. @SchefflerFans”

     

    Not only that, but Scottie Scheffler also became the third player in the modern era to have 20-plus PGA Tour wins, which includes four major titles, before reaching the age of 30. He joined the elite club featuring Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

    Scheffler had an impressive winning rate of 40 percent after this week’s win. It was his 14th win in his last 35 starts on the PGA Tour. Last season, he won six tournaments, which included two major titles.

    Scottie Scheffler Opens Up About His Win at the American Express

    Scottie Scheffler kick-started his campaign at The American Express, his first event of the season, on the La Quinta Country Club golf course. He started the campaign with a birdie and carded a bogey-free round with nine birdies.

    In the second round, which he played at the Nicklaus Tournament Course, he added another bogey-free round of 8-under 64. However, after two fabulous rounds, Scheffler struggled at the Pete Dye Stadium Course on Saturday and carded a 4-under 68.

    On Sunday, he teed it up at the Pete Dye Stadium Course and carded a 6-under 66 to settle at a total of 27 under. In the post-round press conference, he talked about his win.

    “Today was a day in which I played pretty nice and did some good things out there,” he said (via ASAP Sports). “I hit a lot of wedges really close to the hole, gave myself some easy birdies. And then when I was out of position did a good job of getting the ball up-and-down.

    Scottie Scheffler earned $1.6 million in prize money with his victory and was also awarded 500 FedEx Cup points. Jason Day settled in second place in a tie with Ryan Gerard, Andrew Putnam, and Matt McCarty.
