Robert MacIntyre has shared joyful news as he and his partner welcomed their first child.
The Scottish star took to Instagram to announce the birth of their baby boy Findlay MacIntyre. He posted a photo showing the newborn’s tiny hands being held by both parents and wrote:
“Our new world #1 🏆 Findlay MacIntyre arrived 28.01.26 ❤️”
While the baby’s face was not shown the moment quickly touched fans and fellow golfers.
Several familiar names congratulated the couple in the comments. Amanda Balionis wrote “congratulations” while the DP World Tour also shared their wishes.
MacIntyre has been with his partner Shannon Hartley for several years. The two were first seen together publicly at the 2023 Open Championship and later moved from Oban, Scotland, to Florida in 2024.
The arrival of their son marks a special new chapter for MacIntyre adding a personal milestone to an already memorable period in his career.
Robert MacIntyre moves up to career-best No. 5 in world rankings
Robert MacIntyre has climbed to a new career-high in the Official World Golf Ranking following his performance at The American Express.
The 29 year old made the cut and finished tied for 38th in California, which was enough to lift him up to fifth in the world.
MacIntyre first entered the top 10 last August after finishing second at the BMW Championship. He later moved up to seventh after the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and then to sixth following his T4 finish at the Sony Open earlier this month.
At PGA West last week he started fast with a brilliant nine-under 63 before slipping back with a 72 in the second round.
After his opening round, MacIntyre spoke about the changes he worked on during the offseason.
“Yeah, I’ve tried to put on a bit of speed. Try to hit a bit longer off the tee. Not much. It was like six yards I was trying to gain. I think I’ve done that,” he said.
“But then other than that it was wedge play, really had to dial in the wedge play. I wasn’t hitting it close enough with a wedge. When I’m a good putter, the closer you are the better.
“It’s like anyone, the closer you are to the hole, the better chance you’ve got. So, no, the last two weeks have been, well today and last week, have been really good with the wedges and yeah, it’s good signs.”
Last season MacIntyre did not win but finished runner up twice and recorded six top 10 finishes which helped push him up the rankings.
