Marco Penge was in the best form of his life last season, as he managed to win three DP World Tour tournaments and earn his PGA Tour card. After this great year, the golfer is all set to make his debut on the PGA Tour this week at the Farmers Insurance Open. But before this debut, during a pre-tournament press conference, Penge, despite being such a big golfer, revealed that he had been rejected from some golf clubs.
The 27-year-old golfer was asked about his current golf club, where he stated that he is a member of the Old Palm Golf Club. However, before joining, Penge approached a couple of other golf clubs that turned him down. He went on to say that Old Palm has been treating him very well, and that not only do the people there treat him well, but the facilities are also excellent. According to the PGA Tour’s official X page, he said,
“I’m actually at Old Palm. They’ve been really, they’re like a real family-oriented golf club and super chilled. I did try and join a couple of others, but kind of got turned away a little bit. So yeah, I was kind of a little too casual, I think, but myself and Old Palm is a good match, and facilities are great there. So yeah, it’s nice to be at a golf club that want to have me there. So yeah, it’s cool.”
Aside from that, Penge went on to say that playing on the PGA Tour is a significant deal for him, and that it has allowed him to check off all of the boxes that a golfer needs to achieve.
Marco Penge states he wants to set an example for younger golfers

In the same press conference, Marco Penge went on to express how he has been overwhelmed by everything he has accomplished in the last six months. Penge is now hoping to improve his performance on the PGA Tour over the next year in order to set an example for younger golfers. He explained,
“I mean, the last probably six months have been overwhelmed. Yeah, probably still now a little overwhelmed, but I’m really excited to have the opportunities that I’ve got ahead of me, and it’s just cool to be, you know, trying to achieve big things in the game and try and set an example for young kids coming up. And, you know, it’s great to have the support that I’ve gained over the last year, and the people that are kind of on the journey with me is really exciting for me. So it’s kind of why I’m here. It’s a good test of golf.”
Marco Penge also mentioned on Thursday that he is pleased with his tee group and is looking forward to the game. The golfer is teamed alongside Tony Finau and Alex Noren, and they will begin their opening round on Hole 1 at 1:49 pm ET.
