Jon Rahm’s relations with the DP World Tour have been one of the biggest controversies for quite some time. Due to Rahm’s jump to LIV Golf despite being a DP World Tour member at the time, the DPWT imposed various fines on the golfer, which, according to recent reports, are about $3 million. Rahm, on the other hand, has refused to pay the fines, and in 2024, he filed a lawsuit against the tour.
Rory McIlroy recently brought up these fines at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, claiming that Team Europe can even pay to play in the Ryder Cup, as he stated only two golfers are able to prove it: Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. McIlroy stated,
“We went really hard on the Americans about being paid to play the Ryder Cup, and we also said that we would pay to play in Ryder Cups. There’s two guys that can prove it.”
Interestingly, Rahm has responded to these comments, stating that he still does not have an explanation for all of the fines and allegations leveled against him by the Tour. There are no dates set for the lawsuit, and Rahm stated that LIV may become involved in the future, allowing him to participate in as many DP World Tour tournaments as he wants. According to Today’s Golfer, Rahm said,
“We’ll see how things unfold. I’m confident on the DP World Tour and LIV figuring something else out. I’m hoping they’re going to find a resolution, because there’s a lot of us here that still want to support the DP World Tour, and I’ll be one of them.”
Currently, Jon Rahm is only permitted to compete in four DP World Tour tournaments per year, and the golfer is perplexed as to which events he can select for the 2026 campaign.
Jon Rahm discusses his 2026 schedule on the DP World Tour

In an interview with Todays Golfer, Jon Rahm stated that he has not given much thought to his 2026 DP World Tour schedule. The golfer added that the Spanish Open is something he cannot miss, and that if he thinks about it, the other three tournaments he could participate in are the Irish, Dunhill, and Wentworth. The golfer explained:
“At the very bare minimum is the minimum starts. So it would be four. The only thing that can change things around is life. I’ll obviously be playing the Spanish Open – there’s no surprise to anybody there – but I like the Dunhill, Wentworth, [and] Irish Open.”
Aside from that, Jon Rahm is also gearing up to start his season at the LIV Golf Riyadh, the first tournament on the LIV circuit this season, which begins on February 4.
