Patrick Reed’s comments after his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic have sparked fresh debate about his future, with fans reacting strongly to the possibility of him returning to the PGA Tour.
After securing a four shot victory in Dubai Reed revealed that he has still not signed his contract with LIV Golf for the 2026 season. While he expects the deal to be completed in time for LIV’s opening event in Riyadh, he admitted there is still work to be done.
“We’re still finalizing the contract,” Reed said after the win. “We’re not complete on that yet.”
Reed has also spoken recently about the idea of playing on the PGA Tour again. He explained that strong results on the DP World Tour could give him a route back as early as 2027. He added that if he were no longer competing on LIV Golf, he would focus more on the DP World Tour to try and secure one of the top spots that lead back to the PGA Tour.
As golf page NUCLR Golf shared his comments on X, fans quickly weighed in.
One fan wrote,
“LIV is just taking Ls”
Another said,
“I hope he won’t sign. LIV should pay him not to sign. Nobody likes him and he is a cheater.”
Another fan felt differently, writing,
“Patrick Reed is the golfer that so many just love to hate .. not sure I get that .. if he wants to rejoin the PGAT, is willing to pay the fines and accept the penalties, the let him rejoin. The US Ryder Cup Team COULD have benefitted with PR on that team”
Another added,
“There are certain LIV players that I want to see return to the PGA Tour. Reed is not one of them. Brooks returned which I wanted. I would love to see Bryson and Rahm return too. Reed can stay on LIV and play overseas. His days of playing on the PGA Tour are over.”
One user took a more positive view, writing,
“I’d love to have Reed back on PGA tour. We need a few guys people love to route against”
Another commented,
“He has zero value to the PGA tour.”

Reed left the PGA Tour in 2022 to join LIV Golf and now plays across LIV, the DP World Tour, and the Asian Tour. He has also confirmed that there are no current talks with the PGA Tour about a return and that he does not qualify for the Returning Player Program since his major win came in 2018.
While Reed expects to remain with LIV Golf for now, his comments have clearly reopened discussion about a potential comeback in the future.
Patrick Reed’s Dubai win marked a major career milestone
“I think the biggest thing this week that was so special is I’ve won on every tour except this one,” he said. “Even though online it says I have three wins, those were majors and WGC events. They are all co sanctioned events.“It was very important for me to come out here and play well and to have that opportunity. And to close it off means a lot to me.”
