Donald Trump owns approximately 17 golf courses, which are present all around the world. The President of the United States has been seen visiting several of these courses and sometimes even playing in many of them. He is a huge golf fan and wants to develop his courses to the point where they can hold big events. Interestingly, one of his golf courses is also located in Scotland, which is preparing to host its first competitive tournament.

The PGA Seniors Tour recently confirmed that the 2026 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship will be held at the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Donald Trump bought the golf club in 2006, and at the time, it only featured one 18-hole championship course. After the Trump Organization got involved, this course became known as the Old Course.

Later on, a New Course was developed to turn the golf club into a two-championship course. Interestingly, this New Course was completed during the last season in July, and President Trump was even present for a spectacular ribbon-cutting ceremony. Interestingly, the Staysure PGA Championship in 2026 is going to be the first-ever tournament that will be played in the New Course.

The tournament begins on August 6 and will be hosted by veteran Scottish professional golfer Colin Montgomerie. Apart from this, the golf club has hosted tournaments before, as last season, the Old Course hosted the Nexo Championship in August, which Grant Forrest eventually won. Interestingly, as Forrest lifted the trophy on Donald Trump’s course, the President himself congratulated him on his victory.

Donald Trump once invited the champion of the event hosted at his course

When Grant Forrest lifted the Nexo Championship trophy, he finished with a total score of 8 under par, leading by four strokes. Interestingly, following this big victory, President Donald Trump praised him via video conference and described how Forrest will be remembered in the game’s history. Later, Trump encouraged the golfer to board a plane and join him for a round of golf the next day.

According to the Bunkered, President Donald Trump stated,

“Your name’s going to be on the board for a long time, Grant. I watched it, he’s some player. I look forward to playing with him – in fact, I will play with him tomorrow if he could get on a plane. Get on a plane and come over here, Grant. We all watched you play. We just came out. What a round of golf. What three rounds of brilliant golf. Your swing is great, and it’s a great honour you won, thank you very much.”

Talking back about the 2026 Staysure PGA Championship, the field is still being determined, although all senior professional golfers over the age of 50 will compete. Interestingly, it has been rumored that there would be no 36-hole cut and that all golfers will play 72 holes over the course of four days.
