The 2026 Genesis Invitational has finally kicked off, and so far, it has been a really competitive event. After being hosted by Torrey Pines during the last season, the event returned to the Riviera Golf Course this year. A total of 72 golfers are taking part in the event, and while it is a signature tournament on the PGA circuit, there will be a 36-hole cut for the weekend game.

The PGA Tour’s Signature tournaments do not normally have a 36-hole cut, but interestingly, there are three exceptions, one of which is the Genesis Invitational. Only the top 50 golfers are planned to make the 36-hole cut and take part in the weekend game. Interestingly, golfers who finish 10 strokes behind the tournament leader can also qualify for the weekend game.

Unfortunately, Round 1 of the 2026 Genesis Invitational was unable to be completed in its entirety due to unfavourable weather conditions. Many players were unable to complete their round, and it has been stated that the game would resume at 10:00 a.m. ET on the second day, with the second round being 25 minutes later than usual.
