Can Phil Mickelson Join PGA Tour via the Returning Member Program? Eligibility Explored

Phil Mickelson is not eligible to play on the PGA Tour through its Returning Member Program. The Tour has welcomed back Brooks Koepka into the league through their new program.

The program allows the players who have participated in “unauthorized tournaments” and have not been tour members for at least two years. However, a player willing to return on tour through the program should have at least won the Players’ or any major in the years 2022 to 2025.

Through this program, Koepka is allowed to return to the league, and other golfers who are eligible include Cam Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jon Rahm.

Phil Mickelson was one of the early joiners of LIV Golf and has been enjoying a good time so far. Last season, he started the campaign at the Adelaide event. He missed the Riyadh event.

Mickelson settled in solo third at the Hong Kong event. Some of his notable finishes from last season in LIV Golf are solo sixth in Miami, T4 in Virginia, T23 in Andalucia, and T25 in Chicago.

Before joining LIV Golf, Phil Mickelson enjoyed a good time playing on the PGA Tour. He won 45 tournaments on the circuit, which is the eighth highest of all time.

The next PGA Tour season is scheduled to start at the Sony Open in Hawaii this week. However, Brooks Koepka is scheduled to return to play at the Farmers Insurance Open, which will take place later this month.

Koepka has shared his excitement to play on the PGA Tour in the upcoming season by sharing a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He wrote:

“I want to thank my family and my team for their continued support throughout every step of my professional career. When I was a child, I always dreamed about competing on the @PGATOUR, and I am just as excited today to announce that I am returning to the PGA TOUR. Being closer to home and spending more time with my family makes this opportunity especially meaningful to me.”

The LIV Golf 2026 is also gearing up for its start.

Phil Mickelson Shares a Sweet Message on Anthony Kim’s Return in the LIV Golf

Last week, Anthony Kim played at the LIV Golf Promotions event and finished in a top-three position on the leaderboard, which helped him earn a spot in the Saudi league for the 2026 season. Phil Mickelson congratulated Kim on his return on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He wrote:

“AK gets his life back and now his golf game is back. He’s on LIV Golf for 2026. Congratulations! Truly Inspirational”

Notably, Kim played in LIV Golf for two years but was relegated from the league last season. He had a tough time on the greens last year, but is looking forward to playing again in the league.
