Patrick Reed has his eyes on securing his spot in the Ryder Cup 2027. The biennial tournament features two teams, the USA and Europe, with 12 players on each.
Reed can play in the event if he manages to secure a spot by finishing in the top six in the Ryder Cup standings ahead of the tournament in 2027, or else he could also be a captain’s pick for the event based on his performance.
This week, in an exclusive interview with Today’s Golfer, he talked about the next year’s Ryder Cup.
“We’re going to do everything in our power to get there in Ireland,” he said.
LIV golfers have played in the Ryder Cup in the last few years. Last year, for the Europe team, Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm played, while Bryson DeChambeau joined the US team.
Patrick Reed was looking forward to being the captain’s pick in the 2025 Ryder Cup but missed the event. He talked about last year’s Ryder Cup team and said (via Today’s Golfer):
“I felt like I would’ve been a huge asset to the team. Keegan and I were in contact throughout the process. I knew what was going to happen with all that. I think with how badly the team was getting beat through Saturday, and that fight that they gave on Sunday, and whatever Keegan told the guys that Saturday night, you always have to believe you have an opportunity to win. But to actually almost do it and come back was something that I’m proud as an American to see our guys fight like that, and a captain to rally his team like that.”
Patrick Reed has played in the Ryder Cup in the past. He made his debut in the tournament in 2014 and was part of the winning team in 2016, and also played in 2018. Moreover, Reed is also eligible for the Presidents Cup this year.

Patrick Reed shared excitement to play on the PGA Tour

Patrick Reed will be eligible to play in the fall season events on the PGA Tour as a non-member on sponsor invitations and also through Monday qualifiers. He also has a good chance to secure a Tour card for the 2027 season through the Race to Dubai standings.
The American golfer made a huge jump in the standings after winning the DP World Tour event last week and is currently settled in second place in the standings.
Reed is excited for his journey on the PGA Tour and shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday. He wrote:

“I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine. I am very fortunate for the opportunities that have come my way and grateful for the life we have created. I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth.

“I want to thank everyone involved for helping me make this decision. Over the last four years, I have learned a lot about myself, about who I am and who I am not, and for that I am forever grateful,” he added.

Reed had enjoyed a tremendous time playing on the PGA Tour before he joined LIV Golf. He won nine events on the circuit, which also included the Masters 2018.
