Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open will also mark a rare moment for golf broadcasts with ESPN set to air early round coverage of a regular Tour event for the first time in nearly 20 years.
Koepka will be part of one of the Tour’s featured groups with his first two rounds airing live from noon to 3 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday. The coverage will also stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
ESPN usually limits early round coverage to majors like the Masters but this week marks the network’s return to broadcasting the opening rounds of a standard PGA Tour event.
The pairing was revealed during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, where it was confirmed Koepka will play alongside Max Homa and Ludvig Åberg in the opening rounds.
Koepka rejoined the PGA Tour earlier this month through the new Returning Member Program after leaving LIV Golf in December. While he is back on Tour he currently cannot enter Signature Events unless he qualifies through results.
The Farmers Insurance Open will be his first start followed by next week’s WM Phoenix Open, a tournament he has won twice.
Brooks Koepka’s past results at Torrey Pines
Brooks Koepka will be making his fifth career start at the Farmers Insurance Open this week at Torrey Pines.
His record at the event itself has not been strong with Koepka making the cut only once in four previous appearances. Still the South Course has treated him better in major championship play.
Torrey Pines hosted the 2021 U.S. Open, where Koepka finished tied for fourth at two under par. He was one of just 12 players to end the week under par and was within one shot of the lead with three holes to play before late bogeys pushed him back.
Away from Torrey Pines, Koepka’s career has been built on consistent high finishes. He currently has nine PGA Tour wins, along with 13 runner up results and more than 50 top 10 finishes across 186 starts. He has made the cut in 146 of those events.
Koepka turned professional in 2012 after a successful college career at Florida State. He found early success in Europe, winning four times on the Challenge Tour and earning his DP World Tour card.
In 2014 he picked up his first DP World Tour win at the Turkish Airlines Open and was named Rookie of the Year. That same season, he also impressed in his PGA Tour debut with a third place finish at the then Fry’s.com Open.
His lowest round on the PGA Tour came in 2016 when he shot a 62 at the Shriners Children’s Open.
