Anthony Kim’s special comeback story came to a complete circle at the LIV Golf Adelaide. Kim returned to golf in 2024 after a 12-year break caused by substance abuse and other mental health difficulties. After two years on the circuit, he was dropped by the Saudi-backed league, but he later made a comeback through the 2026 LIV Golf Promotions and eventually won his first competitive tournament in 16 years at Adelaide.

Kim is currently gearing up for the next LIV tournament, which will be taking place in Hong Kong. Before the event, which will be hosted by the Hong Kong Golf Club, the 40-year-old golfer discussed his addiction problem and how he has developed a new addiction recently. He described how, after winning the event, his daughter ran towards him on the green, which was an extremely addictive experience for him.

According to an X post by NUCLR Golf, Anthony Kim explained,

To condense it, he was asking what my daughter means to me. When she ran out onto that green, selfishly, that was one of the most special moment of my life. When I used to putt for five, six hours on the green at the club I belonged to, that sent me a letter to get off the green and not practice as much, that was always in the back of my mind.”

Kim later went on to add,

I’ve seen other players’ families run onto the green. I’m sure I’ve seen you do that, but that was my goal. I’m a recovering addict, but now I think I’m addicted to making that happen again, and there’s nothing that’s going to stop me from working to get to that point.”

Anthony Kim finished his campaign at the 2026 LIV Golf Adelaide with a total score of 23 under par, including a final round of 9 under par, winning by three shots.

Anthony Kim discussed his game progress during the pre-tournament press conference at the 2026 LIV Golf Hong Kong. He remarked that, despite following the 1% better every day motto, he never feels like he has improved his game. The golfer went on to say that as a result, he is less concerned with the outcome of each tournament in which he competes and more concerned with his own game. Kim stated that because of this, he believes his greatest game is still ahead of him.

According to Asap Sports, Kim stated,

“I don’t think there was a moment where I started to think, I’m playing better than I was before. But I think not worrying about the results and just trying to get better every day, that process clicked at some point. I don’t know when that was. I really started playing better than I was scoring in Riyadh, but I just didn’t get the ball in the hole quickly enough. It kind of came together on the back nine. My focus is just to keep working, and I think my best golf is in front of me.”

Kim will begin his campaign at the LIV Golf Hong Kong on March 5, when the tournament kicks off at the Hong Kong Golf Club. He will draw a lot of attention because he is one of the most popular among fans.
