Dylan Raiola is preparing to spend the 2026 season as Dante Moore’s backup in Eugene, Oregon. While he initially expected to have a chance at the starting role with the Ducks, Moore’s decision to return for a final season certainly put a pin on those thoughts for at least a year.
This led to a parody account claiming that Raiola wants to move to yet another school. Shane Tuttle, an account known for its troll posts, claimed that Raiola was expected to meet Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire with an eye on a possible move after QB Brendan Sorsby took a leave of absence from football to deal with a gambling addiction.
Obviously, a move is impossible, as the transfer portal isn’t open, but it didn’t stop fans from reacting to the post.
Raiola bears a strong likeness to Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes, who happened to play college football with the Red Raiders, so it’s understandable that fans hoped to see Raiola suiting up for Texas Tech.
“Guess It works out since he’s such a huge Mahomes fan boy,” a fan said.
“Dylan Raiola reeeaallly wants to emulate everything Patrick Mahomes
was, is, and will be… Can’t wait for his StateFarm commercials in 2032,” another fan said.“Great!!! Now he’s really gonna mimic Mahomes even more!!! 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻” a fan said.
“Hope he goes to Tech we will just destroy them yet again,” a fan commented.
Other fans were confused about whether such a move was possible.
“Isn’t there no spring portal anymore? How could this happen and effect this year?, asked one confused person.
“This is insane. I am not sure if NFL players have this flexibility. If a NFL QB gets a better offer is he allowed to leave his current team to sign with another team?,” said another fan.
Dylan Raiola is Extremely Happy at Oregon Following the Spring Game
In contrast to what the troll post suggests, Dylan Raiola seems extremely happy at Oregon. Just last week, he made his spring game debut with the Ducks.
“I was very grateful and very emotional in the moment,” Raiola said after the game. “When he was running down, it was kind of surreal. I don’t really remember what happened. I just got to the end zone and Evan was excited and all the guys were excited. You could just see the connection on the team.
“Everything that has happened since last November to now, God could not have put me in a better place.”
He threw for 146 yards, with one touchdown, while completing seven out of 13 pass attempts. Not bad numbers for a spring game.
