The Cleveland Browns might have beaten the Philadelphia Eagles 22-13 in their second preseason game, but starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel struggled throughout the encounter. He threw for 143 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception. His one bright spot was that he had a 72.2% completion percentage, with 13 successful passes out of 18 attempts.
Fans online were quick to react to the news, cracking jokes about Gabriel’s debut.
Other fans seem to think that someone was happy with the way the game went: Shedeur Sanders.
Shedeur’s fans seemed equally happy.
Others mocked how the media had described Dillon Gabriel’s outing.
Others mocked the quarterback himself.
Dillon Gabriel seems to take a jab at Shedeur Sanders
Immediately after leaving the field during the game, Dillon Gabriel spoke with ESPN and made a comment that turned the heads of everyone listening. He seemingly took a shot at teammate Shedeur Sanders:
“There’s entertainers and there’s competitors, and I totally understand that,” Gabriel said. “But my job is to compete. And that’s what I’m focused on.”
The comment seemed like a clear shot at Shedeur Sanders, who was known through his college career for his approach to public life and self-promotion. However, he immediately backtracked in the postgame press conference and assured everyone that the comment wasn’t supposed to be an indictment on Shedeur.
