DeShaun Foster’s Salary and Contract in 2024

Foster signed a five-year deal with UCLA to become their head coach in February 2024, which will pay him a base salary of $3 million in 2024. However, the Bruins’ HC can boost his pay with performance bonuses.

The contract will also increase incrementally, featuring a $100,000 pay rise each year, per the LA Times. Foster was given a signing bonus of $250,000 and two retention bonuses in his contract.

The first will pay Foster $500,000 if he is still employed on March 14, 2026. The second will lock in on March 14, 2028, and is also worth $500,000.

The annual salary is expected to be half of what Fosters’ predecessor, Kelly, was due to earn in 2024. However, the role is a promotion for Foster, who has been the Bruins’ running backs coach since 2017.

As well as Foster’s base salary, there are also performance-based incentives and bonuses that he can earn.

The abundance of bonuses that Foster can earn annually include:

  • $50,000 if he wins six games.
  • $50,000 in addition if he wins seven games.
  • $100,000 for winning eight games.
  • $100,000 for winning nine games.
  • $100,000 if he wins 10 games.
  • $100,000 for making an appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game.
  • $100,000 for winning the Big Ten Championship Game.
  • $100,000 for participating in a bowl game.
  • $50,000 additionally if he wins the bowl game.
  • $200,000 for making the College Football Playoff.
  • $150,000 per College Football Playoff victory.
  • $200,000 for winning the College Football National Championship Game.
  • $50,000 for ranking in the top 10 of the AP Poll.
  • $100,000 for ranking in the top five of the AP Poll.
  • $50,000 for being named Big Ten Coach of the Year.
  • $100,000 for being named National Coach of the Year.

The role is personal to Foster, who also attended the college as a student.

“This is a dream come true,” Foster said in his opening statement.

“I always envisioned being a Bruin ever since I was young, and now being the head coach at my alma mater is such a surreal feeling, and I’m grateful for this opportunity. The foundation of this program will be built on discipline, respect, and enthusiasm. These are phenomenal young men, and I’m excited to hit the ground running.”

Foster played for UCLA between 1998 and 2001 and is still fifth on the Bruins’ all-time rushing yards leaderboard.

He will lead them into a new era as the Bruins move to the Big Ten.

Foster’s Net Worth

Foster’s net worth is undisclosed, but he has earned a considerable figure over his playing and coaching career. As a coach, including past and future contracts, the total worth exceeds $19.4 million, according to USAToday’s Salary Tracker.

However, this figure only represents what Foster will have earned at UCLA and not any other coaching positions or his salaries as a player in the NFL.
