Shelomi Sanders, the daughter of NFL legend Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders, took to social media the opportunity to roast her brother Shedeur’s pregame confidence before making a solid debut with the Cleveland Browns.
The Alabama A&M basketball player posted a video on her Instagram story of Shedeur slipping and sliding through a facility tunnel. The rookie quarterback was seen wearing trendy sunglasses, sporting his famous smile, and dancing to music.
Shelomi’s response to her brother before the game was priceless. She posted the video with three laughing emojis.
Shedeur went on to have a great NFL debut in the preseason, completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers.
The Sanders siblings have always remained close while pursuing different paths. As Shedeur continued his football journey, going from Jackson State to Colorado and now the NFL, Shelomi continued to create her own identity in college basketball. She also went from Jackson State to Colorado and finished her career at Alabama A&M, where she found her true identity as a player and an activist.
Shedeur Sanders Set For More Preseason Opportunities
Sanders got the nod due to injuries to other Browns quarterbacks and the decision to rest veteran Joe Flacco. Sanders played almost three quarters with composure and accuracy, particularly with his touchdown pass to Kaden Davis in both the second quarter and that late first half.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski has publicly indicated Sanders will continue to receive significant preseason reps, stating:
““He’ll get a ton of reps next week as well,” Stefanski said. “That’s all a part of our development of our young players.””
With Sanders currently fourth on the Browns’ quarterback depth chart, his performance has triggered conversation about how he fits into the quarterback competition.
The 21-year-old Shelomi Sanders has shown she has her own identity and has established her own career, as the daughter of Coach Prime and the sister of an NFL quarterback. Her time and career at Alabama A&M have subsisted while decreasing their winning number in April, and she has successfully received recognition, including “Bulldog of the Week” recognition.
Shelomi, outside of athletics, is becoming an advocate for type 1 diabetes awareness. Diagnosed at 13 years of age, she plays at the collegiate level and manages type 1 diabetes when she is competing. She also wears a continuous glucose monitor when she plays. She has begun a partnership with Dexcom as part of a Name, Image, and Likeness deal that will raise awareness for type 1 diabetes.
