‘The NFL Will Humble You’ — Sportscaster Dan Patrick Weighs In on Shedeur Sanders’ Brutal Criticism After NFL Combine Presser

Shedeur Sanders faces NFL Draft scrutiny as Dan Patrick weighs in: "The NFL will humble you." Is it real concern or just media noise?

The NFL Draft process is never short on drama, and Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has become one of its latest targets. Once seen as a surefire top-10 pick, Sanders is now facing a sudden wave of criticism. Sanders has been deemed “arrogant” by some experts, to which popular sportscaster Dan Patrick added his two cents. According to Patrick, the NFL will humble Sanders.

Dan Patrick Shared What Can Be the Answer for Shedeur Sanders’ High Self-Esteem

NFL insider Josina Anderson recently called out a quarterbacks coach from a top-drafting team for labeling Sanders as “arrogant” and “brash.” Anderson was quick to defend Sanders, arguing that his media presence at the NFL Combine painted a much different picture. By her account, Sanders was respectful, engaging, and confident.

On The Dan Patrick Show, Patrick himself highlighted what he called the “pile-on” effect in sports media. “Shedeur Sanders hasn’t thrown a football, hasn’t played a game in a couple of months,” Patrick pointed out,” Patrick explained that draft narratives often snowball, with insiders echoing one another to avoid being left behind.

“It’s an echo chamber; it’s a circle. Now you start to hear, ‘hey nobody’s sold necessarily on Shedeur Sanders being a first-round draft pick.’ Where did that come from? That was quick.” said Patrick.

While Patrick sympathized with Sanders, he also recognized the shifting dynamics of NFL evaluations. With the rise of NIL deals, young players like Sanders enter the league with fame and financial success before ever playing a snap.

This, according to Patrick, makes their personalities subject to heightened scrutiny. “It’s an inexact science. It has been and will continue to be,” Patrick said. “You can go down through the history of those who made themselves better when they got to the NFL. I just worry sometimes with NIL you might have players who are already treated as pros, they get to the pros and are maybe not putting in the time they need to, to be great.”

Patrick also pointed out that Sanders’ situation mirrors that of his father, Deion Sanders, who faced similar scrutiny during his own NFL journey. “With Shedeur Sanders, it feels like he’s the guy under the microscope right now. And you’re starting to hear people are now saying things out loud that they may have thought,”

Patrick said. “And this could be about Deion. And maybe Shedeur Sanders is arrogant or brash. The NFL will humble you … this is business.”

Whether the criticism stems from legitimate concerns or an orchestrated effort to push Sanders down draft boards remains unclear. But one thing is certain—this pre-draft saga will be a major test for the young quarterback long before he ever steps onto an NFL field.
