Analyst Predicts Boost for Colorado Offense with QB Kaidon Salter

Recently, Buffaloes analyst Procter underscored Salter’s potential impact on the Buffaloes’ lineup and why.

Over the last two seasons, Salters has had runs of 52, 43, 41, 36, 35 and 34 yards. That kind of mobility from the QB position will have defenders consistently second-guessing where the football will end up, leading to extra room to run for RBs.”

The C-USA Player of the Year in 2023 established himself as one of the nation’s premier threats with his legs. His explosive runs terrorized defenses, racking up 1,089 yards on the ground and 12 rushing touchdowns, alongside 2,876 passing yards and 32 touchdowns.

In 2024, Salter focused on becoming a more conventional QB, using his arms more and legs less. This led to a dip in his stats as he recorded passing for 1886 yards and rushing for only 587.

During the first media session, Salter expressed that he’s committed to becoming a QB who prioritizes passing. However, he made it clear that he would rely on his athleticism and mobility whenever necessary.

“My rushing will still be displayed, but mostly, I came to throw the ball. Of course, I’m going to use my legs when I have to… but I came here to throw the ball. We have a lot of electric receivers here.”

This spring, Salter is set to compete head-to-head with five-star freshman standout Julian Lewis for the starting quarterback spot in 2025. For Salter, sharpening his passing abilities is crucial to securing the role.
